Vintage Love - Finding Fabulous

This week's Vintage Love features Lindsey of Finding Fabulous, a well curated shop full of beautiful vintage items for the home.

What do you love about vintage?
The age of a vintage item is what makes it so interesting to me. Who did this belong to and what did they use it for? Did someone cherish this piece or was it something that sat in a box for years and years? There’s history behind every piece and that’s what intrigues me the most.

What is the best item you have ever come across when you have been vintage/thrift shopping?
The best thing I have found thus far is a botany pull down wall chart, the old school style. I have never come across one of these before and haven’t since. It had such great muted colors yet made for a fantastic statement piece.

Do you have a style or method you use when vintage/thrift shopping?
I usually go the rustic and weathered route when I search for items. I love it when I find something that has been painted 5 times and is chipping away to expose that rainbow or things that have sat in the sun for 20 plus years. I have a hard time finding these kinds of pieces at thrift stores so I have found that going to estate sales works the best for me. Going into someone’s basement or garage and sifting through the various items that have been there for many, many years is where I find the best pieces.

Is there one tip you could share that might help someone who is new to thrifting and vintage shopping?
I would say to look into estate sales that may be in your area. Check out estatesales.net and you can find out where one might be near you and when. As soon as I started going to estate sales, going to thrift stores is no longer an option to me. The amount of things you find at these is almost shocking at first and really still very exciting every time I go!

Thank you Lindsey for participating in this week's Vintage Love.
