I'm back

I'm back from the mountains. The trip was wonderful and relaxing.

I'm swamped with e-mails and all the other stuff that piles up when you have been on vacation for over a week! I will be back on Monday with regularly scheduled posts! Have a great weekend everyone!

Letterpress

I have always had an obsession with letterpress. To me, there is nothing more beautiful than a letterpressed card or invitation but more than anything I love the letters. There is something about them that I am drawn too. Here's a little letterpress inspiration...

Wood Paneling

I know, I know....the words "wood paneling" probably make you cringe as they conjure up images of dark, musty basements and 1970's rec rooms but hear me out. The other day Mike and I were in Crate and Barrel and we could not stop admiring the ceiling which was covered in a beautiful pine wood paneling. It really had a cottage feel to it, which of course is the look we are going for in our new house. Of course, I went home to look for more inspiration and I found some really beautiful designs.

Ochre Store

Happy Monday everyone! As you read this I am curled up in front of the fireplace drinking tea and enjoying the peacefulness of the mountains. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

I wanted to share with you this amazing little shop I found online, Ochre Store.  Their collection includes items from world artisans, crafters and even some vintage pieces they've acquired throughout Europe.

Goodbye, Again!

Well, I'm off on vacation, again. We are headed to my parent's cabin in the mountains of North Carolina and then to Savannah for a couple of days.

I'm really looking forward to this trip. My parent's cabin is one of my favorite retreats, it is truly an escape from the real world. It's so peaceful and serene there.

I have a stack of design magazines to pour through once I get up there and hopefully I will be able to get some wedding planning done. I fully intend to relax, drink tea on the porch, play games, bake with my mom, catch up with family, and just decompress.

I will be gone for the next week or so but I have scheduled posts as usual. A lot of eye candy and interior inspiration for you all to enjoy!

Dumpster Diving

Dumpster diving takes on a whole new meaning after reading this story in the NY Times.

Bringing it all together

A beautiful table really brings your entire event together. Now that I am in full wedding planning mode I am starting to think tables, centerpieces, etc. These tablescapes are some of my inspiration.

Exteriors

Wouldn't you love to throw a party on this patio...

Travel by Design - The Surf Lodge

The Surf Lodge, located on Fort Pond in Montauk, is the epitome of great hotel design.  It's got just the right mix of fun and funky and has that bohemian chic look that I love.

The vibe is cozy and relaxed.  You instantly feel at home, like you're spending the weekend at your friend's beach cottage.  A great summer getaway!  If you're not already convinced that you should start packing your bags and make a reservation, the restaurant's executive chef is former Top Chef contestant, Sam Talbot!

Bring your favorite Eames chair...

Case Study House No. 9, designed by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen, is for sale!

The Case Study Houses were experiments in architecture sponsored by Arts & Architecture Magazine

The magazine commissioned major architects of the time to design and build inexpensive model homes for the housing boom that arose after World War II.

Case Study House No. 9 was designed by Charles Eames and was featured in the December 1945 issue of the magazine. The house, located in Pacific Palisades, has been restored and now serves as the guest house for an estate designed by Barry Berkus.  The entire estate is now for sale and is truly an amazing piece of architectural history.

Calypso

While I was in Manhattan I got the chance to visit one of my favorite stores, Calypso. I didn't buy anything on this trip but I did get to ooh and ahh over their amazing collections. Here are some of my favorites...

Travel by Design - Bed of Flowers Bed & Breakfast

Bed of Flowers is the cutest and most quaint little bed and breakfast, located in the countryside of the Netherlands near the river Waal. This is the place for true rest and relaxation, along with some great interior design!

Bed of Flower's host, Floriene Bosch is passionate about interior decorating and it shows in the splashes of color and detail throughout the inn. Couldn't you imagine having dinner in that fabulous pink dining room or sipping tea and reading a good book by the fireplace. This place seems like the ultimate getaway!

New York Street Art

I'm headed to New York today for a mini vacation. Mike and I really need a break from the house. Being homeowners again is a bit overwhelming and we are already getting burnt out so what better thing to do than to escape to one of my favorite places in the world!

It will be good to go back, visit friends, eat good food, hang out in our old neighborhood, and check out the street art! I can't wait. Posting will be light here over the next couple of days. Have a great weekend everyone!
