My issue of House Beautiful showed up over the weekend. I fell in love with this gorgeous mid century modern house - for me it is everything I want in my own home. It's modern but maintains a sense of warmth and has a very lived in feel. The house is full of Moroccan rugs, kilim pillows, and suzani throws which bring such an amazing color palette to the space and also give the house a great organic and bohemian vibe that I love.
Another thing I am kind of obsessed with are the floors...it's making me re-think my whole concrete floor option for our house. I never thought I would love tile but I really love this tile. It's this sort of greige color that would totally accent our furniture without overpowering the rooms or taking away from the current design aesthetic. If I can find a similar match I think I might go for it! What do you think?

i thought about concrete, too, but we put limestone in the bath & i'm slowly going to redo the house with engineered wood. [can't do hardwoood, or i'd have steps up and down everywhere i put tile]
the tile in the photos reminded me of saltillo tile, which is in a lot of the older homes here in Tucson. i've seen it more reddish, though, like this

and i've heard it requires some special care.
I think you are right about the saltillo tile. We took the picture to a tile place and they said it was saltillo with some kind of high gloss shine added to it. I love it but think it might be too much trouble to upkeep and wouldn't mesh well with some of the other design ideas we had for the house.
